Brian JeffriesAfter a 22 year career in the oil industry with one of the "Seven Sisters" in "Head Office" Supply/Oil Refinery Planning and "Oil Refinery" Laboratory, Technical & Process Plant Management in one of the world's largest oil refineries, Dr. Brian Jeffries had had enough of the then 1987 Corporate World 60-70+ hour week.

Brian, along with his wife Alyson, stopped for lunch while passing through Cooma, the Gateway to The Snowy Mountains, during August 1987. They immediately fell in love with the rural sub-alpine Monaro area of New South Wales, bought a house after lunch and have lived in Cooma ever since, along with their daughter and two sons. Cooma is half way between Canberra, our nation's capital, and Mt. Kosciusko, our nation's highest point.

Quickly becoming part of the local community, Brian served two terms as President of the Cooma Pre-school Management Committee. He is also a Past President, Past Treasurer (3 terms) and past Secretary (4 terms) of the Cooma Rotary Club and has served two terms as an Assistant District Governor in Rotary International. Brian is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and has recently had the distinction of being awarded the 'Four Avenues of Service Award' by Rotary International.

A stamp collector since childhood, Brian is a member of The Royal Philatelic Society of Victoria (RPSV), The British Society of Australian Philately (BSAP), The Canberra Philatelic Society (CPS), The Australian Commonwealth Collectors Club of New South Wales (ACCC of NSW), The Australian Cover Society, The Perfin Society of New Zealand and Australia and is a life member of the Milton-Ulladulla Stamp Club.
